Free time business

t’s difficult to raise money for any good causes at the moment. Unfortunately, the only “cause” most folks are interested in right now is making sure their family gets fed and they pat the bills, with not much left over to donate to charity.
The trick is to make sure your supporters are getting something for their cash – but how do you do that without spending money yourselves? Well, there are a couple of very easy fund-raising ideas that should hopefully persuade people to part with what little excess money they have.
Contact local businesses and see if they would be willing to donate something for a charity raffle. Make sure you call them, rather than sending out standard letters or emails. It’s a lot harder for bosses to say no when they have someone on the other end of the phone. Most places will be happy to make a donation, even if it’s just a bottle of wine or a box of chocolates. Although you might end up with High Street vouchers if you’re lucky. Careful what you ask for when you contact the local manufacturers of incontinence pants though!
Let the businesses know that you’ll be involving the local media and that’s sure to encourage them to donate something good that might just get mentioned in the story… The next thing is to make sure you do get in touch with the local paper. Not only will that keep your donors happy for the next time you have to ask them for a favour, but it will also give some vital promotion to your own organisation.
Another way to make some money, with only a little outlay on the part of your group, is to hold a coffee morning. Get your supplies in cheap from Asda and sell them for less than shoppers would pay at Starbucks and you should get a steady stream of customers. You’ll soon make a profit on your minimal spend, especially if you add orange juice and biscuits to the menu for bored kids!
