This is why considering donation of books is a great idea. In addition, the books that have been collecting dust after being read can move to their new homes and do not lose their worth years after they were bought first. Here are few tips you should consider if you’re thinking about giving away the books you once loved.

- You can either donate books to someone you know (such as family, friends, a colleague, friends of someone you know etc.) or at a charitable organization that accepts books. In either case you would be helping someone and someone will be benefitted by your benevolence. The only difference is that the charitable organization will gain monetary benefit if you choose the latter option.
- You can contact local public libraries to see if they would welcome your contributions. Also, if you have books specific to a specialized subject you can offer them to the non-profit organizations working in that area. For example, you can donate your law and compensation related books to the law firms practicing in the area of Cerebal Palsy compensation
- You can try getting a tax receipt in order to avail a tax exemption on your contributions to the charitable organizations. You should, however, make sure that you donate your books to the right and trustworthy organizations.
- You should keep your books in a good condition before you donate them. This will actually help their readers. A book in a bad and worn out condition is less likely to be picked by some real readers.
