Chasing your dream
A dream gives us a focus. It is something that we do and enjoy and often, excel at. Without a dream, we are just empty shells floating through time. Living such a life is akin to receiving a brain injury compensation – a classic case of bolting the stables after the horse has run off. A dream motivates us to live enthusiastically and inspires us. While following your dream, keep in mind a few things that will go a long way in making it fulfilling.

Make sure you define your dream. It should be something you clearly love doing and immerse yourself in without noticing the passage of time. It should be something that you look forward to every day. In short, you have to find the right track into which you can channel your best value to the world while being happy.

Don’t pick something that looks, feels or sounds nice. Or do something just for the sake of doing it. Try out whatever you want to do for some time to see if it is what you want to do for the rest of your life. This might pay considerably less but it is something that you enjoy doing. Do it consistently to hone your skill in that particular area. It is only when you are good that it actually starts paying off. Often the lack of time prevents us from pursuing our dreams. Make time for your dream. Cut down on things that are frivolous and do not bring you any real joy. Use the time and energy thus saved to do things that you are passionate about. An easy way to do this is to start the day doing what you enjoy so that even if the rest of the day is spent doing things you don’t much care for, there is a sense of satisfaction in having done something you really care about.
